Carbon

 What Is Carbon?

Carbon can be in millions of different life forms such as: Oil, Coal, Diamond. Did you know that carbon is one of the most important elements, but it can easily combine with other elements creating atoms. Fun fact Diamond is also made out of 99.95 percent of pure carbon as well as many other living things. Scientists have found that the earth is made up of 118 elements, carbon is one of them!

What Is Carbon Dioxide?

Carbon dioxide (Co2) is a gas that is formed by burning fuels combined with oxygen in the atmosphere. Co2 is abundant in the earth's air which is why it's one of the most important parts of the earth. Since Co2 is soluble (meaning it can dissolve) it’s found in almost every living life form e.g, rivers, diamonds, dirt and foods, etc. Co2 keeps the world warm by trapping the heat, without it, we could freeze to death.

What Are Carbon Sinks?

There are 3 different carbon sinks: oceans, trees, and soil.  Carbon sinks act as a sponge by absorbing carbon in the earth's atmosphere. A carbon sink is a type of system that absorbs more carbon than it releases. But a carbon source Is the complete opposite it releases more carbon than it absorbs. A carbon sink is a natural process that stores carbon.

What Is Global Warming?

Global warming is something that happens all over the world because of the amount of carbon in the atmosphere. Ever since the industrial revolution humans have been burning fossil fuels e.g wood, oil and coal some use it for starting fires and some to make petrol.

What Can We Do To Prevent Global Warming?

Instead of buying more and more food, actually, make use of the food you have at home. By getting electric cars, it can make a small but useful change in the world by using fewer fossil fuels and gas. This one is a big one… USELESS PLASTIC when going to the grocery store try getting reusable bags instead of plastic.
